Liturgical year A within the Mouvement de l'Incarnation came to a close with the retreat of the leaders of the Word of God groups, who gathered at the Word of God retreat centre in Yaoundé (Cameroon) from 22 to 26 November 2023 under the lead of the founder and General Leader Henri BAYEMI.
A call to all to a spiritual awakening
About a hundred leaders, deputy leaders and supporters took part in the annual retreat of the leaders of the Word of God groups, which was held in Yaoundé from 22 to 26 November 2023. This retreat was organised under the theme « awake, you who sleep, rise from among the dead, and Christ will shine upon you », taken from Saint Paul's Letter to the Ephesians, chapter 5, verse 14. This theme, as challenging as it is evocative, enabled the leaders to feel the need for an awakening and a spiritual renewal in commitment and mission. These five days apart were a time of formation, spiritual renewal and recollection for the participants in this retreat. This retreat was filled with activities such as Masses, adoration, teachings, sharings, moments of fraternal communion, all of this to help them rediscover the meaning of their mission and to commit themselves anew to the following of Christ and to the service of others.
The mission that challenges us today
Henri BAYEMI, the Founder and General Leader of the said movement, points out the necessity of such a retreat: « That the Lord should allow us to end this year on retreat is a great grace. And again, for all the group leaders, it is an opportunity, because Christian leaders who do not come together to pray, to reflect on their mission, that would be something difficult. The fact that for several years we have established these retreats is an added value for the journey of the movement and the journey of each leader of the Word of God group. »
A sending on mission for all
« A retreat of leaders is also a sending on mission » Henri BAYEMI continued. He thus points out the necessity of going to share the Word of God with the other brothers and sisters at the end of this retreat.
A retreat to take stock of the year 2023
Another important point of this retreat was the presentation of the reports of the various groups and services for the 2023 spiritual year. At the end of this exercise, the top prize for this year goes to the Bafoussam zone, which, after evaluation by an experienced jury, wins first place five times in various categories.
At the end of this retreat, joy is at its height for all the leaders who were able to take part in the retreat. Hervé YOUDOM testifies: « The retreat helped me a great deal. I was very edified by the tips for fighting against spiritual ageing, the necessity of discipline. I leave very reassured and confident that from now on the mission will be a little easier to carry. »
