Father Alexandre Désiré Sop was born on 22 December 1970 in Foumban (Cameroon). He was ordained a deacon in June 2004 at Bamenda Cathedral and was ordained a priest in July 2005 at Nkongsamba Cathedral by Bishop Dieudonné Watio.
In 2014, Father Alexandre travelled to France to pursue studies in canon law at the University of Strasbourg and, in July 2021, successfully defended his doctoral thesis in canon law.
Alongside his studies, Father Alexandre had been serving as an assistant priest at the parish community of Les Portes de l’Altenberg (Mulhouse, France) since September 2014.
He returned to Cameroon in January 2022 and was appointed permanent lecturer at the Saint Paul VI Major Theological Seminary in Douala.
He joined the Movement of the Incarnation in 1999 and is currently its spiritual director.
